Sasha Barker: View of Mt. Hood (Multiple colour linocut)
– cutting lines and shapes
There are coloured areas where white lines appear, and there are white areas with coloured linear elements. This interplay creates a lot of visual interest. I repeatedly found this pattern in linocuts, only recently in two other postings to a FB group. I’d like to integrate this in my prints as well.
– multiple colour inking
The plate was inked in a gradient from blue over turquise and green into almost black. In his feedback to Ass. 4, my tutor pointed out that I need to improve my use of colour and should be attentive how others employ colours and what function it has in an image. I think here the colour helps creating space, it lifts up the sky from the woods that surround the mountain.
